so after much searching and visiting local hotels, hostals and pensions - we found what we think is the perfect place to stay whilst riding in our bit of almeria ...

almond reef - a beautifully restored cortijo in cariatiz, nestled beneath the craggy cliffs of an ancient fossil reef! twin, double or single rooms available with breakfast and evening meal options. run by diane and paul white, originally from middlesex but now having lived in spain for 10 years, who are great friends of bici-almeria. paul is an avid motorcyclist and is beginning to develop an interest in what us roadies do! di's cooking is now reaching legendary status after 3 years of looking after ravenous cyclists!

almond reef also provide a very valuable daily 'lycra laundry' service for you during your stay so there is hardly any smelly kit to take back to the uk. there is also a secure storage facilty for bikes and bags to be left in.
almond reef has become a favourite with visitors in the last three years and is now a home form home for bici-almeria guests

cariatiz is one of the 'aldeas de sorbas', just 10km from sorbas itself and ideally situated for exploring the sierras to the north and south as well as being just an hour's ride down to the coast at mojacar

the cortijo has stunning views across the cariatiz valley, a superb sun terrace as well as a shady area to relax or eat outside as well as a small swimming pool - complete with a swimmer's equivalent of a turbo trainer or treadmill!
